A delightful surprise from #TargetBacktoSchool

#TargetBacktoSchool Front_ENG

I am very excited to be able to share something happening in my city today downtown. Just in time for back to school shopping (and I love back to school shopping) Target Canada is surprising shoppers at their Billings Bridge Mall location with special treats.

Starting at 11 am they will pick random guests and award them with rewards – anything from a cup of coffee to a free trip to Target. They want visitors to the store to be surprised and delighted. The surprises will stop at 4 pm.

Now I already took my daughter to Target for her back to school supplies. She doesn’t need much this year, but I still loved picking them out with her. Her crayons, her glue sticks and her very own lunch bag. Doc McStuffins, naturally.

I have to go back to pick up some more clothing basics for the fall.

I also get to give away a $100 Target gift card to one of my readers, so comment below for your chance to win. I’ll pick a winner at random tomorrow (August 18) at noon ET.

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post, but I am genuinely excited about back to school shopping.

Giveaway: Lug for Life

by , on
March 22, 2014

I have spent a lot of my life looking for the perfect purse. I don’t go for fancy and expensive, I like usable. If they get dirty I want to be able to clean them, I want to not worry about the things inside if it starts to rain. I like to have pockets to carry all the things I need, which are various.

I have the basics – wallet, keys, phone. I like to have a notebook and pens with me. Tissues are a must, because I often have to blow my nose and if I don’t have Kleenex with me it’s guaranteed I will need some. When I was working I had to carry lunch, maybe files. When the kid was born it became a whole new ballgame and now any bag has to have a pocket designated specially for her – hair clips, lip balm, crayons.

Then there are the times I carry knitting with me, my tablet or a book I’m reading.

I was introduced to Lug by my mother and have since become hooked. I now own several different models in different colours that I have used for work, the gym, travel and every day purses. I was very excited to receive a Windjammer Everyday Tote to review. One of my favourite things about Lug is the colours they come in. I chose Marigold Yellow and I have a Grass Green one to giveaway.

The design and colour are perfect for spring. These bags are durable, pretty and they hold everything I need. They’re full of pockets inside pockets. They’re water repellent and easy to wipe down. The front zip pocket holds all the kid stuff I carry. The main interior pockets hold all the major things I carry, and I’m a big fan of the small front pocket that fits my phone perfectly, meaning I don’t have to search through all the other stuff I carry when I need it. One thing I really like about the Windjammer is that the straps are long enough for me to carry it over my shoulder with my winter coat on, something I find a lot of bag straps are too short for. This bag also has the Lug signature water bottle pocket on the side that closes up when you don’t need it.

Visit Lug on Facebook or Twitter to see what they can offer for your needs and enter contests to win Lug products.

Leave a comment on this post telling me about the things you carry with you every day and I’ll draw a random winner on March 29 at noon.

Disclosure: I was given a Lug bag to review that I have decided to giveaway.

ETA: the And the winner is plugin has chosen Alison Jette as my winner. Congratulations, I’m getting in touch.

Giveaway: Celebrate Valentine’s with Staples

by , on
January 29, 2014

I am a sucker for office supplies. I love a good notebook *cough Moleskine cough* and a great pen, just the right pencil, scratch pads. I love Post-Its (on my monitor, in my books, on my knitting patterns). I used to comparison shop for my back to school stuff – I would write down what I needed, go through all the flyers and find the best prices.

Do I enjoy a trip to Staples? Yes, yes I do.

This year Staples has put together a gift guide to encourage people to think of the store as more than just boring old office supplies.

(There’s nothing boring about office supplies).

It’s not just printers and computers, it’s an entire aisle of pens, all kinds of paper, notebooks, crafts and art supplies.

Staples has very kindly offered to allow one of my readers to choose something from this list as part of a giveaway to promote everything you can find at their stores. What’s your favourite thing to shop for at Staples? Leave me a comment to enter the giveaway and I’ll choose the winning at random on February 7.

1. Tot Tutors Children’s Table and Four Chairs 2. Apple iPod Shuffle 3. Bienfang Sketch Book 4. Dixon China Markers 5. High Sierra Curve Backpack 6. Built NY Big Apple Buddies Lunch Bags 7. Disney Winnie the Pooh Baby Patchwork Record Book

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

EDIT: Congratulations to BEV who was the randomly chosen winner of this giveaway! Check you email.

Giveaway: Silk Wrap Button Bracelet

by , on
November 14, 2013

Christmas is coming up quickly and I am very excited about this giveaway. I met Annie from Studio Luma at the Handmade Marketplace at Blissdom. I was drawn to the beautiful colours she uses and the glass beading on her jewellery, and even more intrigued when I found out she makes every piece by hand. She even makes hers reLuma line from recycled glass.

If you’re in Ottawa you can go and see her booth for yourself at the Craft and Artisan Fair taking place at the Glebe Community Centre November 15 to 17, you can also find her on Facebook here, but I am very happy to say that Annie is providing one of her most vibrant products as a gift to one of my readers – the silk wrap button bracelet. Click on that link and just look at the gorgeous colours.

Leave a comment below telling me what colour you would pick if you won (my favourite is the blueberry… I think… it’s hard to choose). You can also take a minute to read Annie’s 10 true facts about herself on the home page.

She happens to be a mother of two who started this business just over a year ago, leaving a secure job as a teacher to do something that she really loves. She’s also going to continue running the business after moving her family to Panama in the new year. (Looking forward to reading more on her blog about that adventure).

(I’ve been visiting the site about once a week since Blissdom because I’m still thinking about her sweet leaf pendant as a gift for my sister…)

ETA: I used a random number generator to choose the winner and it choose commenter 14, Delta. Congratulations.
