Don't just live in the world

My mother is a quilter and she tried to get my sister and me interested but it never worked. I started knitting when I was in university and enjoyed it more than I ever imagined. I still wanted to learn how to sew and when I found out I was pregnant I took a class.

I always wanted to be the mom that was able to make Halloween costumes for my kid.

I have now successfully made four dresses for the kid. I knit one and have sewed three, including a special Canada Day dress with maple leaf fabric. They definitely have that homemade look about them, but she loves them and picks them out of her closet and I can take pride in that.

I thought it best to learn and practice while she’s little and doesn’t mind mistakes, now we can grow together.

When she grows up I can tell her that she chose the fabrics and picked the dresses she wore so she can’t be mad at me for embarrassing her.
