One of my friends on Facebook posted a note about getting people soliciting at the door and it brought up an incident from a few weeks ago.
We’ve had a few people coming to the house since we moved in, trying to sell us their services. One day my daughter and I had been out somewhere. I noticed a man I didn’t recognize walking down the street and didn’t think much of it. We pulled into our driveway and I glanced at my side mirror and he was standing there, behind my car, in our driveway.
I was alone in the car with my daughter and a man I’ve never seen before was standing there behind my car, looking at us.
As it turns out, he was trying to sell us on sealing our driveway. I told him we weren’t interested and he walked away with no problem.
When I tweeted about the incident and how I felt about it, I heard back from several women who had similar experiences.
I still get angry about that.
Did he really not know that he may have been perceived as threatening? Do business that send these people out door to door not teach them at all about how to best interact with people?
