I love the fall. I love the sweaters and the smells and the crispness of the air. I love going to the apple orchard and driving around to see the colours. Fall is back to school (which I used to love) and the start of hockey season. It’s my wedding anniversary. Fall is a new beginning.
One of the hardest things for me this summer has been planning our meals. It’s just so hard to cook in the summer. You never know what the weather will be like and when it’s super hot you don’t feel much like eating any way. Fall brings with it soups and stews – things that go right along with my new breadmaker.
I’ve got a great carrot soup recipe that’s been rolling through my head, along with my potato soup and my beef stew in the slow cooker. Now I’m starting a list of things to add to my fall menus. I’ve got the time to experiment, so we’ll see what I can do.
This fall my goal is to try to make my own:
- Pea soup
- Tomato sauce
- Apple sauce
- Butternut Squash soup
- Broccoli and cheese soup
- Cauliflower and cheese soup
- Lemon square (my mom used to make a good one).
- Lentil soup
