#HensonLegacy

May 15th, 2009 | Posted by Amy Boughner in Personal

Today on Twitter MuppetNewsFlash posted a note saying that tomorrow, Saturday, will make 19 years since Jim Henson died of strep. It’s change because I remember finding out and being very, very sad, and wondering what would happen to all the Muppets.

In honour of Jim, MuppetNewsFlash asked that we take a moment to remember his legacy and to tweet what Jim taught you with the tag #HensonLegacy.

I started trying to think of how to put what Jim Henson taught me, beyond how to count in Spanish, and how to fit it into so few characters. In the end I said this: Jim taught me grown-ups can be silly, it’s okay to laugh at your own jokes & some things only look scary #HensonLegacy

I can’t really explain why Jim Henson and all his creations had such a magnificent impact on me, and I can barely put into words what that impact was, but I know that he was important in my life and my development and I can see from all the responses to #HensonLegacy that I am not alone.

I am also very glad to have a husband that shares my juvenile delight in the Muppets, and I hope to pass it on to my children.
